New seasonal sandwiches shake up menus.
Chick-fil-A is adding a honey pepper pimento chicken sandwich to its menus, which features an original Chick-fil-A filet, topped with pimento cheese, mild pickled jalapeños and a sweet honey drizzle, all served on a toasted bun. The chicken chain also added a caramel crumble milkshake, which is made with butterscotch caramel flavors, Chick-fil-A Icedream and blondie crumbles, topped with whipped cream and a cherry.
Sonic Drive-In added a bacon peppercorn ranch grilled cheese to its menus. The new sandwich features a seasoned beef patty, American cheese, hickory smoked bacon and peppercorn ranch, all served on buttered Texas toast.
“Our fans have made it clear how much they love our grilled cheeseburgers, but we wanted to make this comfort-food favorite even more craveable,” said Mackenzie Gibson, vice president of culinary and menu innovation at Sonic. “By adding the flavors of hickory smoked bacon and peppercorn ranch, we created an innovative new burger that can’t be replicated for our price point. It’s a melty, cheesy, delicious burger with a side of tots or fries for under $4 — you can’t beat it.”
Starbucks released its fall menu, which features its popular pumpkin spice latte. The coffee chain also is adding several new fall-inspired offerings, including the iced pumpkin cream chai tea latte, the iced apple crisp oat milk shaken espresso and the baked apple croissant.
“We’re excited to celebrate the creativity of our baristas and customers by offering the iced pumpkin cream chai tea latte on the official fall menu,” said Billy Altieri, beverage developer at Starbucks. “The warm spice flavors of chai and pumpkin seamlessly blend together, creating a creamy and comforting iced beverage.”
Carl’s Jr. introduced the big char chile burger and a salted caramel pretzel shake to its menus, which are available for a limited time. The big char chile burger features a beef patty topped with Santa Fe sauce, pepper jack cheese, a whole charred green chile and iceberg lettuce. The salted caramel pretzel shake is made from a blend of ice cream, milk, caramel syrup and pretzel pieces.
Domino’s Pizza launched a new pepperoni stuffed cheesy bread, which features eight oven-baked breadsticks that have been stuffed with cheese and pepperoni. The cheesy bread is then covered with mozzarella and cheddar cheese and seasoned with a touch of garlic and Parmesan.
Wendy’s is adding to its ‘Made to Crave’ line-up with the loaded nacho cheeseburger, loaded nacho chicken sandwich and queso fries.
The loaded nacho cheeseburger features a square beef patty topped with melted cheese, roasted poblano queso, spicy corn, tortilla chips, spicy chipotle sauce, lettuce and tomato, all served on a jalapeño cheddar bun. The queso fries are topped with poblano queso and shredded cheddar cheese.
Krispy Kreme, Inc. is launching strawberry glazed donuts to participating locations over Labor Day weekend for “one perfect last bite of summer,” according to the company. The strawberry glazed donuts were first introduced in 2020 and were last offered in 2021.
“Our fans are always asking us to bring back Strawberry Glazed and it seems Labor Day weekend — the unofficial end of summer — is the perfect opportunity to treat everyone,” said Dave Skena, global chief brand officer at Krispy Kreme. “So, make plans now to visit Krispy Kreme Sept. 1-4 when these treats make their return for a sweet summer sendoff.”
First Watch Restaurants is bringing back its seasonally inspired menu.
The limited-time menu features a million dollar harvest hash, which is topped with Mike’s Hot Honey, a barbacoa quesadilla benedict, a pumpkin pancake breakfast and cinnamon spice churros.
“Mike's Hot Honey completes the Million Dollar Harvest Hash with a little heat and fresh ingredients that scream fall,” said Shane Schaibly, head chef at First Watch. “When we were in the kitchen creating this hash, we were immediately pleased with how well the hot honey complements the cayenne and black pepper spice in our Million Dollar Bacon and the creaminess of the goat cheese to balance the entire dish. This is something you have to try.”
Caribou Coffee launched the return of its fall menu, which features 15 different seasonal drinks. Making its debut to Caribou Coffee’s menu is the new pumpkin espresso shaker.
“Pumpkin is one of the most highly anticipated seasonal flavors in the industry and we're ecstatic to welcome guests to fall with our extensive pumpkin menu,” said Matt Reiter, senior vice president of product and procurement. “With a wide variety of menu items and endless customizations, there is something for everyone to enjoy this fall season whether they want their pumpkin shaken, iced, blended, hot or with nitro cold press.”
Late night cookie chain Insomnia Cookies added new offerings ahead of the back-to-school season. The cookies joining the “Campus Collection” include French toast, vegan white chocolate cold brew classic, PB&J filled deluxe and blueberry pancake ice cream.
Wendy’s added two English muffin sandwiches, which feature an egg, a choice between applewood smoked bacon or a sausage patty, topped with American cheese.
“Fans asked and we answered,” said John Li, global vice president of culinary innovation for The Wendy’s Co. “As breakfast boundary breakers, we’re always looking to cook up new craveable breakfast offerings to add to our stacked breakfast lineup, and we have high standards for what ultimately makes it onto our menu. We tested 60 variations of our English Muffin sandwiches before we landed on these light and fluffy English Muffins made with a touch of honey and topped with a savory buttery spread, fresh cracked eggs and delicious bacon or sausage for the perfect harmony of breakfast flavors.”
Dunkin’ released its fall menu, which features the reintroduction of the pumpkin spice latte, nutty pumpkin coffee and the pumpkin bakery line-up.
“Every year, we can practically feel the buzz around our pumpkin lineup,” said Jill McVicar Nelson, chief marketing officer at Dunkin’. “It’s truly amazing to see our fans light up for this cherished flavor. Catching their excitement both on social media and in our restaurants underscores how much Dunkin’ and the fall season go hand in hand. As the pumpkin spice season embodies Dunkin’s vibrant spirit, we’re all in — splashing our signature shade of orange everywhere we can.”
Jack in the Box, Inc. is bringing back its Jack’s sauced and loaded potato wedges, which left menus in 2021. The potato wedges are topped with melted shredded cheddar cheese, cheddar cheese sauce, ranch and bacon crumbles. Consumers can also add Jack’s Spicy Good Good Sauce and jalapeños.
Sweetgreen launched its late-summer menu, which features the return of the Italian chopped salad. The salad features a blend of ingredients inspired by “a Mediterranean holiday,” like slices of salami, banana peppers, heirloom cherry tomatoes and red wine vinaigrette. Other offerings from the late-summer menu include an elote bowl and a barbecue chicken salad.
“We’re always excited to add new ingredients to our menu that not only meet our food ethos but also deliver fresh, delicious flavors that we know our community will love,” said Nicolas Jammet, co-founder and chief concept officer of Sweetgreen. “With the Italian Chopped joining the menu, Sweetgreen customers can enjoy a new red wine vinaigrette made with avocado oil, and savory ingredients like fresh salami and pickled banana peppers.”
