Cannabis, vegetable flour among ingredients manufacturers are using to spark demand.
Moonshot, a brand Patagonia Provisions acquired in March 2023, introduced a new collection of crackers formulated with organic and regenerative wheat. The wheat is sourced from two farms in Washington and grown through sustainable agricultural methods like cover cropping and reduced tillage. The line features four flavors including sourdough sea salt, margherita pizza, rosemary garlic and vegan cheddar cheeze.
Club Crackers, a Kellogg Co. brand, launched Club x Butter Chardonnay Minis. The crackers, which are described as “light, flaky, (and) buttery,” are formulated with JaM Cellars’ butter chardonnay, which is described as “rich” and “creamy,” the company noted.
“Our fans know that hanging with their club alongside their favorite cracker and wine is all they need to kick back and relax,” said Carrie Foose, director of brand marketing at Kellogg’s Crackers. “That’s why we’re so excited to bring them the Club x Butter Chardonnay Minis — a snack that seamlessly brings together everything they need for the perfect bite at the next gathering. We look forward to hearing what fans think of this unique, limited-edition snack, because with Butter Chardonnay infused in their favorite Club Minis, their next club hang will be fabulous.”
The Campbell Soup Co. became the latest food company to partner with The Disney Co. to celebrate its 100th anniversary, introducing commemorative limited-edition soup and snack products under its Campbell’s and Goldfish brands.
Goldfish Disney 100th Anniversary limited-edition cheddar crackers will feature the traditional Goldfish shape along with crackers featuring Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Woody (from Pixar’s “Toy Story”). The crackers will be available in a 6.6-oz bag.
Maker of allergen-friendly and gluten-free snacks FitJoy, LLC is expanding its portfolio with the launch of grain-free crackers. The crackers are allergen-friendly, gluten-free, Non-GMO certified, dairy-free and nut-free and will be available in three flavors: classic, white cheddar and pepper jack cheese.
“We’re on a mission to bring excitement back to your pantry with nostalgic, flavorful snacks made better,” said Norman Taliaferro, founding partner and president.
Gluten-free snack company Maine Crisp introduced an olive and za’atar-flavored crisp to its product portfolio. The olive and za’atar crisp, like the company’s other offerings, uses buckwheat flour as its naturally gluten-free base. The new flavor also is dairy-free and made using Non-GMO Project verified ingredients.
Maine Crisp’s olive and za’atar crisps are produced at the company’s new manufacturing facility that opened last fall in Winslow. The crisps are available to purchase on the company website and at Whole Foods Market stores in the North Atlantic region.
Dare Foods brand Breton Crackers added two new varieties to its line of gluten-free crackers. The Non-GMO Project verified crackers are formulated from a combination of tapioca and green lentil flours, available in flavors like herb and garlic or flax and sea salt. Breton’s latest additions offer a cholesterol-free snacking option, with zero grams of saturated fat per serving, that can easily pair with an assortment of cheeses, meats or spreads.
Pure Organic, a better-for-you snack subsidiary of the Kellogg Co., added three baked cracker varieties to its portfolio. The crackers, which come in garden ranch, Parmesan garlic and double cheddar flavors, are made using USDA certified organic ingredients.
Each baked cracker box features a QR code that directs consumers to the website for No Kid Hungry — a nonprofit that supports ending childhood hunger.
Launched in 2020, Tempo Crackers were created as a savory option among the many sweet offerings in the cannabis snacks and edibles market, which reached $4 billion in legal sales last year. Each cracker is precisely dosed with specific ratios of cannabis compounds tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol to deliver different effects. Flavors include black pepper, chipotle honey, chili limon, rosemary sea salt and sour cream and onion, as well as new additions Buffalo cheddar, truffle Parmesan and salt and vinegar. The products are sold online and in dispensaries throughout the Los Angeles area.
Better-for-you foods company Simple Mills launched Cheddar Pop Mmms, a line of snack crackers made from vegetable flour.
With a focus on sustainable agriculture and planetary health, Pop Mmms are formulated with diversified crops such as organic butternut squash and organic red bean. The product offers a low-calorie snacking option at 120 calories per 50-cracker serving and joins a portfolio that includes crackers, cookies, baking mixes and bars.
The Simply Good Foods Co. expanded its Quest brand, this time with the launch of Quest cheese crackers. Available in a “Cheddar Blast” variety, the crackers contain 10 grams of protein and 5 grams of net carbs per serving.
“Consumers are focusing on their nutrition and wellness goals, but still want that savory snacking experience,” said Linda Zink, chief marketing officer at Simply Good Foods. “Quest is all about supporting consumers by delivering on taste, while also offering the macros they are seeking. We are excited to launch Quest Cheese Crackers, a cheesy option that satisfies this appetite for snacking, while providing a protein boost without a ton of net carbs.”
