Fall flavors make an early return to menus.
Convenience store 7-Eleven rolled out its seasonal menu, including pumpkin-flavored items. Coming to 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations is the pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin coffee and pumpkin syrup.
“We know our customers wait all year long for their favorite fall flavors … so we decided to break out the pumpkin a little bit early this year,” said Dennis Phelps, senior vice president, merchandising (vault and proprietary beverages). “It may not quite feel like fall outside yet, but it sure can taste like fall as we enjoy the first pumpkin spice latte of the season.”
Krispy Kreme, Inc. is rolling out its fall-flavored donut collection.
The donut assortment consists of two returning offerings, the pumpkin spice Original Glazed donut and pumpkin spice cake donut, and two new ones: the pumpkin spice cheesecake swirl donut topped with cinnamon sugar, pumpkin buttercream icing and cream cheese icing; and the pumpkin spice maple pecan donut with maple icing and candied pecan pieces. Krispy Kreme’s seasonal donuts will be available for a limited time at participating locations and in six-pack varieties at select grocery retailers starting Aug. 7.
Burger King is expanding its menu with the launch of BK Royal Crispy Wraps.
The wraps, which are available in classic, spicy and honey mustard varieties, also feature tomato and lettuce, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. They are a snacking size and can be added to any meal, according to the company.
“At Burger King, we’re no strangers to innovation when it comes to chicken,” said Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer, Burger King North America. “We first introduced the BK Royal Crispy Chicken sandwich last August, and our guests have loved it so much that we’ve turned it into a snack-sized wrap version. The BK Royal Crispy Wraps offer our Guests an all-new way to enjoy our BK Royal Crispy Chicken without sacrificing quality ingredients, bold flavors, and the choice to have it your way.”
Frozen yogurt brand SweetFrog is launching its fall-flavored menu with its seasonal pumpkin bread batter.
The flavor features a blend of pumpkin and cake batter frozen yogurts that has been blended with ground cinnamon.
Sonic Drive-In is adding Buffalo chicken dip bites to its menu for a limited time. The new offering features a wonton-style fried exterior, filled with chicken, Buffalo sauce and melted cheese.
“From tailgates to family celebrations, Buffalo chicken dip is always a craveable favorite,” said Mackenzie Gibson, vice president of culinary and menu innovation at Sonic Drive-In. “In developing the new Buffalo chicken dip bites, our culinary innovation team took that same mouthwatering flavor and packed it into a golden-brown crispy wrapper for an unforgettable snacking experience that can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime.”
Baskin-Robbins added its flavor of the month to menus for August: Game Night. The Game Night flavor combines sweet and salty with salted caramel ice cream, with M&M’s Minis, buttered popcorn clusters and a caramel pretzel-flavored swirl.
“Baskin-Robbins is all about bringing people together to celebrate yay-worthy moments and our August lineup is the ultimate embodiment of that,” said Hannah Suits, director of brand marketing for Baskin-Robbins.
Quiznos added a new sandwich to its menus: the Big Fat Greek sub. In a partnership with Grecian Delight | Kronos, the Big Fat Greek sub is the first gyro-style sandwich to be offered at Quiznos since 2018. The sandwich features certified halal, seasoned gyro meat, topped with tzatziki, a marinated blend of tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions, lettuce, and banana peppers.
“At the height of summer with fall quickly approaching, we think it’s the perfect time of year to offer a hearty, crave-able protein paired with light and refreshing toppings that satisfy any and all guest cravings,” said Mike Gieseman, vice president of culinary and innovation. “We have always prided ourselves on introducing innovative menu offerings while delivering the signature Quiznos quality that we are known for, and the Big Fat Greek Sub is a great example of that.”
Pei Wei Asian Kitchen is adding wok-fired wings to its menus, which are tossed in a honey sriracha sauce.
“What really makes these wings unique is the sauce process,” said Alfredo Pinon, executive chef at Pei Wei Asian Kitchen. “Anyone can cook wings, but what sets Pei Wei apart is our ability to caramelize the Honey Sriracha sauce over a 1,600° flame before tossing in the wings to finish.”
