Retailers and foodservice locations fall head-over-heels for Valentine’s Day-themed additions.
Krispy Kreme is partnering with the Hershey Co. to release four heart-shaped donuts featuring Hershey’s chocolate.
The donuts are available in four varieties:
“This Valentine’s Day there’s no sweeter way to show you care than with a box of heart-shaped Krispy Kreme donuts made with real Hershey’s chocolate,” said Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme.
Mars released its limited-edition Valentine’s Day offerings from its M&M’s, Dove and Ethel M Chocolates brands.
The company added a white chocolate strawberry shake flavor to the M&M’s portfolio, a dark chocolate ganache candy to its Dove brand and a five-piece chocolate box to its Ethel M Chocolates brand. Featured in the Ethel M Chocolates box are milk chocolate, lemon satin crème, dark chocolate, milk chocolate peanut butter and white chocolate heart-shaped candies.
Hostess Brands released a variety of Valentine’s Day-inspired treats. Across its baked food brands, Hostess will offer heart-shaped Ding Dongs, strawberry cheesecake baby bundts, frosted strawberry Donettes.
Godiva Chocolatier announced its 2023 Valentine’s Day lineup, which features a fabric heart chocolate gift box, an assorted heart gift box and a heart tin with assorted wrapped chocolates.

Welch’s Fruit Snacks added HeartThrobs, heart-shaped juice-filled snacks, which also includes a “to and from” notecard on the packaging. Available in strawberry and cherry flavors, the fruit snacks are made with natural flavors and are gluten and preservative-free, according to the company.
Brach’s debuted a line of “Friends”-inspired conversation hearts, which feature 26 quotes and references to the television show, according to the company. The candy hearts are available in a blend of watermelon, strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, cherry and orange flavors.
The Kraft Heinz Co.’s Jet-Puffed brand released heart-shaped strawberry-flavored marshmallows for the upcoming holiday. The pink marshmallows are available at Target and select retailers nationwide.
Thin-crust pizza chain Donatos is bringing back its heart-shaped pizza, which comes in a create-your-own option.
“At Donatos, we are all about bringing people together over great food and leading with love in all we do,” said Jodie Conrad, chief marketing officer for Donatos. “Bringing back our heart shaped pizzas at Valentine’s Day is a great way for our customers to express their love and appreciation for others, and we are grateful that so many of them look forward to doing this with us each year.”
Chewy candy company Hi-Chew is partnering with Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt to launch Hi-Chew raspberry frozen yogurt for a limited time.
“We are so excited to have Menchie’s bring back the Hi-Chew raspberry flavor this year,” said Teruhiro Kawabe, chief representative for the United States and president and chief executive officer of Morinaga America Inc. “The Hi-Chew berry mix has long been a favorite since its launch in 2021, and consumers couldn’t get enough of the Hi-Chew raspberry flavor at Menchie’s. As a highly requested treat, we are sure consumers will be excited about bringing this limited edition treat back to Menchie’s stores.”
Mondelez International’s Sour Patch Kids brand launched sour hearts candy, now available in a black raspberry flavor and a heart shape.
“Valentine’s Day can be a sour subject for some, which is why we wanted to offer a Sour Patch Kids treat for all our fans to enjoy,” said Lauryn McDonough, senior marketing director, candy, seasonals, and chocolate at Mondelēz International. “Sour Patch Kids sour hearts candy plays on the mischievous side of Valentines, while still delivering the sour-then-sweet treat Sour Patch Kids fans have come to know and love, regardless of relationship status.”
Hardee’s is bringing back its heart-shaped biscuits and adding a new cherry filled biscuit.
“Hardee’s is all about quality comfort, and we are thrilled to deliver a twist on that for Valentine’s Day,” said Jean Leathersich, director of culinary for CKE Restaurants, Inc. “Bringing back our popular heart shaped, made-from-scratch biscuits, and introducing indulgent cherry filled biscuits, gives our devoted breakfast fans even more to be excited about this year.”
Lindt’s Lindor truffles are expanding its Valentine’s Day offerings with limited-edition strawberries and cream white chocolate truffles and dark strawberry chocolate truffles. The strawberries and cream truffles feature a white chocolate shell that’s been filled with a strawberry cream center, and the dark chocolate strawberry truffle combines a strawberry filling with a dark chocolate shell.
“With their irresistibly smooth-melting filling and delicate chocolate shell, our Lindor dark strawberry truffles were inspired by the decadent flavor of chocolate dipped strawberries,” said Ann Czaja, master chocolatier at Lindt. “Each truffle offers the perfect flavor combination of strawberries and chocolate in every bite and is an indulgent treat for yourself, a gift to delight someone special, or to simply share with friends and family.”
Tyson Foods is bringing back its heart-shaped chicken nuggets, which are pre-cooked and made with lightly breaded white meat. The chicken nuggets come in a 27-oz package and are available nationwide.
Frankford Candy added Valentine’s Day treats to its candy brands. Included in the seasonal additions are gummy Lunchables cracker stackers Valentine’s heart box, the Dunkin’ chocolates heart box, which features donut-shaped filled chocolates in Dunkin’-inspired flavors and Krabby Patties plush heart box, which is filled with heart-shaped gummy Krabby Patties.
