Foodservice locations bring back fan-favorites.
In celebration of IHOP’s 65th year, the chain is re-introducing the “Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity” combo.
The combo meal features two eggs, two bacon slices or two sausage links and two fruit-topped pancakes. IHOP added three new fruit toppings, including blueberry, seasonal mixed berry and cinnamon apple.
Popeyes brought its ghost pepper wings back to menus nationwide for the first time in three years.
The menu item features six chicken wings that have been marinated in a ghost pepper spice blend, then battered, breaded and served with Popeyes buttermilk ranch, according to the company.
Plant-based chain Veggie Grill added a limited-edition menu in collaboration with savory plant-based dip brand Bitchin’ Sauce.
“We are ecstatic to launch this exclusive LTO menu collaboration with Bitchin’ Sauce and inspire a new wave of plant-based eating among an even broader group of consumers,” said Brandon LaChance, chief marketing officer for Veggie Grill. “The synergies between both brands make them the perfect partner to celebrate Veganuary and make the world a lot more ‘bitchin.’”
Included on the limited-time menu is a classic burger with original Bitchin’ Sauce, a harvest bowl also topped with original Bitchin’ Sauce, a BLTA topped with chipotle Bitchin’ Sauce and nachos, also topped with chipotle Bitchin’ Sauce.
Applebee’s is bringing back its all-you-can-eat boneless wings, riblets and double crunch shrimp, each coming with endless fries, according to the company. Available for a limited-time, consumers can choose one of the three options, but can refill with a different option.
Little Caesars added new toppings to its Slices-N-Stix, which combine pizza slices and breadsticks. Slices-N-Stix features four pepperoni pizza slices and eight cheese breadsticks in one box. Now, consumers can add jalapeños or bacon as a topping to the cheese breadsticks.
“What’s better than the iconic combination of delicious pepperoni pizza and cheesy breadsticks?” said Greg Hamilton, chief marketing officer at Little Caesars. “We think the option of savory bacon or spicy jalapeño will really heat things up for pizza fans this winter.”
Frozen yogurt chain sweetFrog added a new flavor inspired by cupcakes. The “My Little Cupcake” flavor is made with low-fat chocolate frozen yogurt and cake batter frozen yogurt blended with powdered sugar.
“We’ve reimagined everyone’s favorite party treat into frozen yogurt form, giving our customers the chance to have a moment of indulgence in their day,” said Heather Marini, senior national marketing manager for Kahala Brands, parent company of sweetFrog. “Our new flavor makes every day feel like a celebration.”
Pizza franchise Donatos added two varieties of pull-apart bread to its menus, available in pepperoni cheese and bacon cheese flavors.
The pull-apart bread is baked in the oven, then topped with provolone cheese and either diced pepperoni or hardwood smoked bacon. The new offering also comes with marinara or ranch for dipping.
Krispy Kreme, Inc. is offering its Biscoff donuts for the first time in the United States. Created in collaboration with Lotus Bakeries, the collection includes three new donuts that combine the flavors of both brands.
“Our donuts made with Lotus Biscoff are popular around the world and it’s definitely time for our US fans to get a taste,” said Dave Skena, global chief brand officer at Krispy Kreme. “Both donut and cookie lovers will be amazed by this delicious combination.”
Offerings include Biscoff Iced, a Krispy Kreme original glazed donut dipped in Biscoff cookie butter icing; Biscoff Cookie Butter Cheesecake, an original glazed donut dipped in Biscoff cookie butter icing and topped with a swirl of cream cheese buttercream and Biscoff crumble; and Biscoff Cookie Butter Kreme Filled, a shell donut filled with Biscoff cookie butter crème filling, dipped in Biscoff cookie butter icing and topped with a swirl of dark chocolate icing and Biscoff cookie crumbles.
Breakfast chain First Watch added a vegetarian breakfast option: cauliflower breakfast tacos, which feature chorizo-spiced cauliflower, scrambled eggs, cheddar and Monterey jack cheeses and potatoes on wheat-corn tortillas. The tacos are topped with avocado, lime crema, pickled red onions and cilantro.
“As much as I love all the richness that comes with the holiday season, the new year is the perfect time to hit that reset button and shift our minds toward making healthier choices, the kind that make you feel as good as they taste — I’m excited to say our newest menu does just that and more,” said Shane Schaibly, senior vice president of culinary strategy at First Watch.
Panera Bread added three sandwiches on toasted baguettes. The three new options include green goddess caprese, pepperoni mozzarella and smoky Buffalo chicken.
The green goddess caprese melt features Peppadew peppers, mozzarella, grated Parmesan, basil, arugula, green goddess dressing, garlic aioli and salt and pepper. The pepperoni melt has pepperoni, mozzarella, and a fontina and mozzarella blend with market sauce. Lastly, the smoky buffalo chicken melt is topped with smoked chicken, American cheese, red onions and Buffalo sauce.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf added two drinks to its winter menu. The sea salted caramel latte and sea salted caramel macchiato both feature caramel, sea salt and espresso.
