ORANGE, CALIF. — Herdez, a business formed by the partnership between Hormel Foods Corp. and MegaMex Foods, has launched a habanero hot sauce.
Formulated from habanero peppers and pickled carrots, the sauce is aimed at consumers seeking a distinctive and versatile heat for applications like tacos, burritos, chicken wings, burgers, eggs and chili, according to the company. The sauce joins Herdez’s existing avocado hot sauce and a range of taqueria sauces, salsas, dips and guacomole.
“We're always looking to expand our portfolio and offer new and unexpected ways for consumers to experience the authentic Mexican flavors they love, and we believe we've delivered the perfect, everyday condiment for almost any food,” said Giselle Olson, brand manager at Herdez. “Our hot sauce line expansion with the new habanero hot sauce offers a delicious, bold kick that works with any cuisine or occasion, from breakfast to dinner and every bite in between.”
Herdez habanero hot sauce is rolling out to retailers nationwide in 5-oz and 12-oz varieties, with suggested retail prices of $2.78 to $3.39 and $5.38 to $6.49, respectively. The launch marks the second product line expansion for Herdez in October, following the addition of Barbacoa Shredded Beef in Sauce to the company’s refrigerated entree offerings.
