NEW YORK — UNLIMEAT, a Korean meat alternative producer, has co-created a plant-based kimbap product with JUST Egg, an Eat Just Inc. brand.
Like traditional kimbap dishes, the 100% Plant Protein Bomb Kimbap features a seaweed roll and several types of vegetables, along with JUST Egg’s folded egg substitute and plant-based cheese and sausage from UNLIMEAT. The product is the first development from a recent licensing agreement between UNLIMEAT parent company Zikooin Co. and Eat Just.
“We are excited to collaborate with JUST Egg, a food tech company with a mission to create a healthy, safe, and sustainable food system,” said a representative from UNLIMEAT. “As this collaboration unites brands with the same beliefs, we hope to develop a variety of products using JUST Egg's offerings and UNLIMEAT's plant-based substitutes. This will serve as an opportunity to expand the range of choices for consumers who enjoy vegan options.”
While the plant-based kimbap initially is launching exclusively for sale in Seoul, South Korea, the companies also are planning to launch a new all-vegan breakfast sandwich aimed at US consumers. The handheld offering will include a cheese alternative and Korean-style grilled short rib patty, derived from soybean, from UNLIMEAT paired with JUST Egg.
