ROBARDS, KY. – Poultry processing operations at Tyson Foods, Inc.’s plant in Henderson County were halted April 30. The facility will remain closed through May 3 to allow for the plant to be cleaned and sanitized after an unconfirmed number of workers tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). Approximately 1,300 are employed at the plant. 

"The Tyson Foods Robards, Ky., facility will cancel production Thursday through Sunday for additional cleaning and sanitation efforts," said Ron Chapman, plant manager of Tyson's Robards facility. "As a food production company, we follow Good Manufacturing Practices, including those relating to sanitation and disinfection of our facilities. While we've intensified cleaning and sanitation already, we're committed to do all we can to keep team members safe, including suspending a day of production for additional cleaning."

As of the morning of April 29, Henderson County reported 65 confirmed cases of the virus and one related death. Henderson’s population is approximately 45,700. According to the state’s website, 4,539 positive cases have been confirmed in Kentucky and 235 deaths attributed to the virus.
